The hydroarcehological collection of “Tonči Borčić Bako” – consists of 58 exibits-amforas, glass bottles, ceramis disheslead anchors, a very rare lauterion (the ship alter), achandelier and bronze bell.
The collection has been gathered by TONKO BORČIĆ in the course of thirty (30) years in the waters around VIS (Biševo, Svetac, Palagruža).
Amogn the exibits there are some very precious and unique examples. A special attention should be dedicated to the Corintian type A amphore whose origin goes back as far as 5 cent.B.C. It is the only integral amphora that kind in our country. Besides the one there are some very rare itallo-greek amphoras. The collection consists also of lead anchor bars. It is possible that this is also the most largest collection of its kind in Croatia.
Two cannon situated in front of the Komiža Tower Komuna and found in the waters of Palagruža also belong to this collection. Thanks to this collection the valuable data on the maritime activites in the Vis aquattorium are preserved, beginning as back as 5.cent.B.C, through Hellenic and Roman period to Byzantine and Medieval time.
